Love of money
The love of money is the root of all evil, not money itself. All the gold and riches of the world belong to God by virtue of creation. And in time will belong to the children of God as joint heirs in Christ Jesus. Money is not evil, but, on the contrary, can be used to glorify God and further the Kingdom of God.
But you can be guilty of the love of money and still not have a red cent to your name. It is easy to unknowingly rely on money or even a natural ability that you have and stray away from relying on God alone.
When your trust is in anything other than God, it can be subtle and hard to recognize. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal if your heart has drifted into idolatry or misplaced reliance, helping you identify hidden areas of greed or dependence on wealth.
Ask God to show you what it is. Pray for discernment to recognize signs of trusting in material possessions or wealth, and examine your daily choices for 'the love of money' in your thoughts and actions.
In Prov 23:17 it says, "Do not let your heart envy sinners" NKJV. The Lord is talking about a condition in the heart: sins of covetousness, greed, and lust are in the love of money.
The Lord continues to say in 1 Tim 6:10, “some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Where is your Trust
Prosperity is a good thing, but the deceitfulness of riches can make you feel secure, leading to pride and complacency. Recognize the danger of trusting in your wealth rather than in God, and stay humble in your reliance on Him.
The danger is a subtle heart condition of 'being independent of God'. That is when you trust your job, bank account, investments, your retirement fund, or have a reliance on anything besides God alone.
Those things are good in themselves, but they can disappear; your faith must be in God. Riches are deceitful in making you think you are safe because of your prosperity, not realizing all could change in an instant. And you can lose everything overnight. Many have experienced this in today's economy.
If you were to experience this and lose everything and find yourself broken and sobbing at the feet of your Savior, then you may actually be in a far better place than before. It may not feel like it, but you may, in fact, be in a much safer place to be totally dependent on God. He would be able to show Himself faithful, and you might be privileged to see an actual miracle firsthand.
If the love of money has caused you to slip into idolatry.
Just correct it with God's help. Burn down those idols in your heart and turn back to God with hope and confidence. Close the door to the evil one that you unwittingly opened by the idolatry. God can easily restore what the enemy has stolen. Return to Him with faith.
The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it. Prov 10:22 NKJV No need to have a love of money, love God instead.
Eternal Destiny
God can replace material things, but your eternal destiny becomes secure when you rely on Jesus alone. Rest in the assurance that His sacrifice offers you peace and hope beyond this world.
Please hear me. It is not our “goodness” or even our “badness” that determines our eternal destiny. It is the goodness of God that we must believe in, not ours. It is what Jesus did on the cross that makes us worthy of salvation. God and God alone is Good.
What Jesus did paid the price for your sins to be forgiven and for you to be found righteous before God. Jesus took your place on the cross. If you have received Him as your Savior, then God has made an exchange. The life of Jesus was exchanged for yours, and then God can give you the gift of eternal life.
He loves you more than I can put into words.
Beloved, I will above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers. 3John 1:2
God proved that you are welcome to come to Him when He spread His arms on the cross for you. There is no sin greater than the love of God.
I repeat, there is no sin greater than the love of God. The Blood of Jesus is strong enough to pay for all your sins. Believe it and receive your forgiveness today.
The only unforgivable sin is not believing in Jesus, the conviction of the Holy Spirit, called blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. John 16:8-11
Jesus said, "And He (the Holy Spirit) when He is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not in me;" John 16:8-9 (ASV)
