Just Your Imagination
Is it just your imagination, or something more? Is it always fantasy, or could it be a real and powerful tool that God has given to mankind?
Something beyond our five senses is not necessarily unreal. Imagination begins creation and is closely linked to spiritual reality.
Imagination bridges the unseen spiritual realm with our experience.
To understand this, consider the spiritual realm. It is more real than the natural realm and existed before Earth’s creation. It is simply a different dimension.
The Reality of Mental Imagery
Let us now consider the reality of our mental imagery from a biblical perspective. You may not have approached it this way before, but Scripture provides compelling examples. For instance, Jesus makes a statement in Matt 5:27-29...
"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. NKJV
What we imagine can become reality; But Jesus says lust that is in our imagination is already sin. It provokes repentance. It's not "Just" our imagination. This is truth not fantasy.
Imagination so real it can cause the need for repentance.
Another example found in Acts 8:20-22
But Peter said to him,(Simon) "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!
You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
Because of this, we should pay attention to what we are thinking, as our thoughts can lead us to walk after the Spirit or after our flesh, resulting in sin.
Jeremiah 16:12 says...And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart,..
Although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth, if you give your heart to God, He will change it from a stony heart to a heart of flesh. He will teach you how to use your mind to glorify Him. He will raise you up and give you beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;That you may be called trees of righteousness,...Isa 61:3
Can Deep Thoughts Create
People say it's only in your mind, not seeing its importance. They dismiss it, though imagination starts creation.
Every human creation started in someone’s imagination. Our Father God created us in His image and used His imagination to create the Earth and everything in it. We are children of God. How far could our imagination take us?
Our thoughts can create both sin and objects—and bring them into the world. No wonder Bible Scriptures tell us…
2 Cor 10:5-6 ... Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,... Maybe it is much more important than we had realized.
Westernized Thinking
Growing up in the West has drawbacks. Western logic can hinder the teaching of spiritual matters to children.
When one of our children comes running from their bedroom saying, "There is a monster under the bed", how do most Westernized thinking parents handle the situation?
A logical parent may demonstrate to the child that there is nothing under the bed and say, “It's only your imagination.” In doing so, we teach children that imagination lacks reality.
Given this, it may be better to consider the reality of the spiritual world around us. Many Bible verses show there is both good and evil in this spiritual world, and children are sometimes more sensitive to these things than adults.
When a child's imagination conjures a monster, rather than dismissing it, it may be more effective to explain to the child who they are in Christ and that they possess great authority over the spirit world in Jesus' name.
You could enter the room, take authority over what frightens the child, and command it to leave in Jesus’ name.
In the Bible, Eli handled the story of Samuel differently than Westernized thinking... Samuel heard a voice from the spiritual realm...
1 Sam 3:8-10 ...'And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. So he arose and went to Eli, and said, "Here I am, for you did call me." Then Eli perceived that the Lord had called the boy.
Therefore Eli said to Samuel, "Go, lie down; and it shall be, if He calls you, that you must say, 'Speak, Lord, for Your servant hears.'" So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
And Jehovah came, and stood, and called as at the other times, Samuel, Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for thy servant heareth.'KJV.
In conclusion, we cannot let Western thinking prevent us from fully realizing the spiritual reality around us. Instead, we must shift our perspective to see with spiritual eyes, becoming more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and the spiritual realm.
Ask God to open our spiritual eyes and ears and grant us discernment of the higher spiritual realm from which we came.

Don't delay; ask Him to come into your heart right now and experience His love.
